Race and Racism in America

The public is invited to join author and Cape resident Helen H. Helfer for a meaningful discussion of race and racism in America as we approach the anniversary of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday. This free, public event will take place at the Falmouth Jewish Congregation on Hatchville Road on Thursday evening, January 13. Included in the discussion is a screening of the film Race: The Power of an Illusion, Part 3. Ms. Helfer, a community and human rights activist for many years, is the author of Footprints on the Land: American Stories About Race. Ms. Helfer's book brings together the first-person accounts of 52 contemporary Americans who speak about their experiences with race and racism in the United States, including her own experience. Copies of Ms. Helfer's book will be available for sale.
