Event Schedule:
Lecture hosted by U. S. Geological Society: "Expanding the Importance of Diversity in the USGS and Science Workforce".

Sunday June 22nd, 8pm- 9pm
Evening Lecture by Capt. Bill Pinkney: “Amistad's Atlantic Freedom Tour”. Hosted by SEA Education Association, held at 171 Woods Hole Road, under the tent.

Monday June 23rd, 12:00-1:00 PM
Cultural dancing by the Cape Cod African Dance & Drum ensemble led by Tara Murphy and hosted by the Marine Biological Laboratory at the MBL Club, 100 Water Street

Tuesday June 24th, 12pm-1:15pm
Brown Bag Lunch Lecture, hosted by The Woods Hole Research Center, 149 Woods Hole Road. Scientist Max Holmes presenting: “Involving Indigenous Communities in the study of Climate Changes in the Arctic”. Refreshments and cookies will be served, with a short discussion and answer period afterwards.

Tuesday June 24th, 7pm
Diversity Movie Night, hosted by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, showing “Elephant Man”, at the Clark Building, room 507. There will be a discussion after the movie, wine and cheese served.

Wednesday June 25th, 12-2pm
NOAA's Educational Partnership Program: Partnership through education towards career development. Dr Priti Brahma, EPP Graduate Science Program Coordinator, will explain the program with a forum by current fellows and supervisor/mentors, held at Woods Hole Community Hall. The program will include time for informal interactions over refreshments downstairs at the Community Hall.

Thursday June 26th, 4-6:30pm: DIVERSITY CELEBRATION

The six major scientific and educational institutions of Woods Hole are hosting a Diversity Celebration to express the importance of understanding and promoting diversity. This year’s speaker is Dr. Isiah Warner from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, http://www.chem.lsu.edu/imw/group/warner.htm. There will be a short question and answer period will follow.

A celebratory fest will then be held from 5 – 6:30 pm. All events will be held in the tent, on the lawn behind WHOI Challenger House. There will be food, displays, and donations from local businesses among other items. Multi-ethnic music will be provided by the band Explicit Noise. Admission is free.
